Living Room Refresh – Add Accent Wall

With spring just around the corner you might want to refresh your living room with a little paint. It’s amazing what a difference just a little paint can make to a room. Your walls may be scuffed or dinged up or you may be bored with the colour. Paint is an easy and relatively inexpensive way to transform a space. Try something new and pick a brand new colour or do an accent wall.

Why I decided to give my living room a refresh...
It’s hard to tell in a photo, but my living room had a lot of scuffs, extra nail holes and little dents. It was two-tone beige when I first bought the house, but I’ve never really liked beige. Even before grey became the most popular neutral several years ago, I preferred grey or white. Then, a few years ago I swapped out the beige for the grey. Now I was getting bored with the grey, and decided the living room needed a refresh.
New paint plan...
Last year I painted my master bedroom half white and half grey. I also painted a guest room half white and half navy blue. I decided to do something similar in my living room and used a charcoal grey with a slight navy cast for a dramatic accent wall. The white wall took two coats of paint but the dark accent wall took three. White ceiling paint and trim were also touched up.

One other thing I did to refresh the space was to shorten the drapes that I hadn’t got around to shortening before.
