Organizing An Airbnb Housekeeping Station

My back hall finally got a mini-makeover and my Airbnb housekeeping station was re-organized. The goal was to make the process easier and more efficient to save time. This area frequently became a dumping ground for items that didn’t have a home or I hadn’t gotten around to putting away.

The pass-through hole to the laundry room had to be drywalled over first. (I’ll show the laundry room makeover in another post.)

The walls were painted light gray, the same as the dining room and kitchen adjacent to it.

The taller shelves fit in where the pass-through used to be. Another two -tier shelf from a thrift store was mounted on the wall. The shorter shelves were placed on the other side and I had previously painted all the shelves with chalk paint. The vacuum cleaner and the steam cleaner were also placed on either side of the wall shelf.

Extra supplies are kept on the tall shelves- toilet paper, garbage and compost bags, hand soap, cleaners, etc. An antique fan and a basket of clothespins sit on top. (I have access to my clothesline directly through a “window”.)

Bins with coffee pods are on the shorter shelves- both regular and decaf. My cleaning caddy with cleaners, cloths, disinfectant spray and a razor is kept on top. (The razor is to clean the ceramic cooktop). I put a hook to hang a clipboard with the list of codes for the keypad entries on one side of the short shelves.

On the wall shelves, I keep a plastic laundry basket that is easy to wipe down and disinfect after getting laundry from the units. The lower shelf has extra bath mats, paper towels and cleaning cloths. I kept a few plants that were still alive and doing well on the window ledge.
