My Airbnb guest suite #2 had the biggest transformation over the last couple of years. From little repairs, to some new furniture and accessories, to a major kitchen renovation.

As you enter my Airbnb guest suite #2...

First the entrance door was replaced and I got a new screen door. Unfortunately, a windstorm wrecked the hinges on the screen door and bent the closer rod so I had to remove it.  (I’m not sure if I’m going to replace it.) Then the old green, cracked tiles were replaced in the entrance hall.

The only change to the main window area is the addition of the desk and chair. I also got a new portable air conditioner.

Living room Before and After...

On first glance, the living room and dining area don’t look much different because most of the furniture remained the same and I haven’t repainted.

Can you spot the changes?

The original beige recliner was replaced with my leather chair and ottoman. A new 55″ Smart TV replaced the old 39″ flat screen TV and VHS/DVD player. The white table lamp was replaced by the copper-tone globe lamp. Finally, the floor lamp was replaced by a larger tripod lamp.

New dishwasher, & William Monague art prints.

The new dishwasher has been a game changer. A new  door (with a lock) to the back hall was added so I could use the extra storage rooms. The curtains on the kitchen window are also new.

Art prints by local native artist William (Bill) Monague...

I feel very fortunate to have known Bill, who was married to one of my best friends, Brenda. Unfortunately, he is only with us in spirit now, but you can see his art at william monague native art.com If you are interested in ordering anything please contact Brenda through their website. My prints, in IKEA frames, all tell a story. My favourite is the Tranquility picture that represents strength, protection and healing following the tragedy of the New York twin towers. The forget-me-nots are so that we will always remember.

An antique dresser was added for a while.

Last year I gave the bedroom a refresh with new paint, night stands and some artwork. I repurposed bedding I already had but bought new curtains. You can read all about it in my post Guest Suite#2 Makeover Part Two -Bedroom Refresh.

Bathroom Updates...

The bathroom also got some much needed fixes and updates last year. You can’t see it, but one of the most impactful changes is how quiet the bathroom fan is. The very noisy motor was replaced and a timer switch was added. Broken tiles,  the cracked vanity top, wall cabinet and the tiny mirror were replaced. You can read all about that transformation in my post Guest Suite#2 Makeover Part One – Bathroom Refresh.
