10 Things to do to Reset & Have a Great New Year!

The new year is symbolic of a new start and a great time to reset several areas of your life. Here are ten things you need to do to reset for a fabulous new year.

Reflect on last year with gratitude...

What did you accomplish in the last year? Even if you had a particularly hard year and barely made it through – you did. Did you learn anything? How were your relationships with others? What are your finances like?

Make Goals and Plans for New Year

A goal is a dream with a deadline, and a plan has all the steps to get there. Make a vision board to help clarify those goals and keep focused on them.

Reset New Year #1...Take Christmas Decorations down and clean...

You probably have already done this, but if not, now is the time. Were there decorations you didn’t use this year, or are a little worse for wear? You might want to declutter them before storing away for another year.

and...Assign homes for new gifts...

Put all those new things away.

Clean out fridge, freezers & pantry...

After all that food during the holidays, there are probably a few messes in the fridge and leftovers! Do a good clean out of your fridge, freezers and pantry and make note of anything that needs to be used up first. Make an inventory and see what you may need to add to your shopping list.

Reset New Year by Decluttering clothes closet...

Did you declutter your clothes before Christmas in anticipation of some new duds? If not, do this now. Pitch anything that doesn’t fit, that you never wear or that is worn out. Make minor repairs to items you want to keep.(ie. missing buttons, loose threads, etc.)

If you didn’t do this before the holidays, now is the time to do it and make room for any new products you have. Take note of anything you have multiples of and plan to use up before buying more. Declutter anything that has expired.

Purge & archive papers and reset folders...

Clear out old papers and shred anything that has sensitive or personal information, that you no longer need. If you need to keep some statements or documents for tax purposes, remove them and archive in a separate location.

Reset financials for the new year...

Prepare new accounting software or spreadsheets for the new year. Make a new budget for the year, based on your goals.

Now the new year is reset and you can start working on those goals and plans to make this your best year ever!
